Antonio de Ribero de Espinosa

Brief Biography

Antonio de Ribero de Espinosa was also referred to as simply Antonio de Ribero and on the 1540 muster as Antonio de Ribera, a probable scribal error. He was a native of Medina del Campo (Valladolid province) and the son of García de Espinosa and Francisca del Rincón. Antonio accompanied Viceroy Mendoza to New Spain in 1535 and was a member of his personal guard. Also, the viceroy appointed him the factor for the Expedition. After the Expedition, Antonio was assigned several governmental positions.
