AGI, Patronato, 78B, N.2, R.3 [Méritos y servicios, Pedro de Sotomayor, abuelo de Baltasar de la Cadena...constan los méritos de otros ascendientes de Baltasar de la Cadena, 1585; begins with a 1572 petition from doña María Vázquez de Tapia; she was married three times: 1) with Juan de Valdivieso, conquistador, they had four children; 2) with Juan de Burgos, conquistador; and 3) with Antonio de la Cadena, poblador y contador mayor de la real hacienda, they had six children; doña María was brought to Nueva España about 1533 by her uncle Bernardino Vázquez de Tapia; one of her sons is Juan de Valdivieso, who succeeded to the encomienda of his father; the other Valdivieso son became a franciscan friar; two daughters by that marriage became monjas; her youngest child (by Valdivieso) is about 17 [none of our people];
