Andrés de Miranda

Brief Biography

Andrés de Miranda was present at the 1540 muster as a horseman. It is possible that Andrés was the individual who came to New Spain in 1526, although that Andrés Miranda never mentioned having gone on the Expedition. However, other known expeditionaries also never mentioned in documents their participation. If correct, then he was from Burgos, the son of Francisco de Miranda and Juana López. There are problems with the documentary record because in one his mother was Juana López and in another Mari Álvarez, and yet it appears that this is the same individual.
